I recently bought a G2 and was reading manual and some tips on Bjorke. I don't understand one thing, on SAF mode, will the focus lock focus as the same as half-pressing shutter to get focus? In other word, can I use focus lock to focus and fully press the shutter to take shoots?

I am a bit confused. I did try few photos but haven't developed it yet.

cheers,
mervyn

No, the focus lock will hold the focussed position you set with the shutter button. You can release your finger from the shutter while holding the focus lock with your thumb,

Steve,

Sorry, that's not correct. Mervyn had it right. You can focus with the focus lock button WITHOUT pressing the shutter button down halfway first. I do it all the time. In fact, I hardly ever try to focus the camera by pressing the shutter button down halfway first. Using the focus lock button is much more reliable and presets the focus until I'm ready to take the shot.

Yep. This is the equivalent of CF4 on a Canon (seperate focus and shutter... I think it's CF4)... since the camera is now pre-focused (lens is in postion), this combination makes the shutter "more responsive".

I believe (without the G2 in my hand) that if you use the top shutter, the camera focuses, but the lens has to move to position when you fire. With the rear button, then lens is in postion already.

I'll correct myself... (just pulled the G2 2out of the bag)... this part is wrong. The rest is correct.
