I found a Contax I recently in a local Op Shop. I don't go hunting around for stuff, I just happen to walk past a few Op Shops on my way home from work & sometimes stop to have a look. There were 2 cameras behind the counter - one was a Zenit & the other was tucked away in it's "Zeiss Ikon" case. Both cameras had the same price marked on them! I took the camera out of it's case & was shocked to find this particular camera in this condition! I think I was shaking as I handed over the money (not quite loose change), but tried to remain calm & poker faced, not hinting to the old lady behind the counter that the camera might be a bit of a collectors item.
It's a cross between models e & f - has the viewfinder on the outside,
4 screws on the accessory shoe & a screw instead of an arrow next to the shutter speed dial.
The serial number only has one letter Y.
I'm not one for owning cameras that I don't use & no one's gonna see it sitting on a shelf in my bedroom, so I want to sell it.
What's it worth?

Check things like the Westlicht Auctions, which usually have examples at most sales. They have the old catalogs on the website, with the prices realized indicated. Remember to allow for condition differences. That gives you an indication, but it's not an exact science. If you bought it at a good price, it becomes something like: "it's worth around $xxx, but I'll make a good profit selling it to (who) for $yyy." Spread the wealth, it's better than going for the last nickel... and it sell faster, also.

Can't tell you what it's worth (too little knowledge of it's condition), just wish I had the money to make you a nice offer. That old black & nickel Tessar would make me a very happy camper... Ah, well, you did well to get it. Now hopefully it'll get into the hands of a user.
