I used to own a Tessar 2.8cm F8. It's an amazing lens considering it came from the 1930s, but I found that it was extremely likely to flare or scatter light as it seems to be doing a little bit here. I rarely shoot into the Sun, but it was still a problem. The color rendition was also a bit odd, and it is prefered to use this lens with black and white film as you are doing. I think the lack of coatings is the problem.Again Tessar 2.8cm F8

Despite all of that it's a remarkable collectible with just amazing build quality and good use can be made of it with care.

skymay, you're doing really fine work -- I especially like your use of selective focus in many of the images.
What is your opinion of the differences between the Sonnar and Tessar? Why do you choose one or the other for certain pix?
As a side note, I find it interesting that you'd post the "change their faces" and Lancôme shots in the same thread.

Thank you tyrone.s and scottgee.1 ^^
I have zeiss jena sonnar 5cm F1.5 and zeiss jena tessar 5cm f2.8 and 2.8cm f8...
First I 'am not professional...so I would not said which is better , for my comments on 5cm lens I like sonnar at F1.5-5.6... tessar at F5.6-F11 and the size ....hahaa...But i shoot B&W amost use filter... I have not 42mm slip on filter ... so I always use sonnar....
And tessar 2.8cm f8 wide lens...good on sunny day...F11-F16 is good , easy shoot and use color film it can give you "LOMO" color...haha^^
Old lens for me is fun , appreciate and good feeling ... don't take seriously ^^
What is certain pix...?
All photos in my flickr...^^
My english very pool ... hope you can help you...

I agree, lovely photos
I'd like to get a Tessar 28/8. A Biogon would be nice too, but in Japan Contax lenses = lots of money
