Actually, the shutter ran great while partially disassembled for a couple of days but isn't quite where it needs to be yet when all put together.

It has to come apart again... ce la vie.

If the person who started this thread pulled the photos they took of their work on their Contax (the ones enquired about above) or a site hosting them fell over, this has nothing to do with Rick. He's one of the most perennially helpful people I know in the classic camera community. In my experience, anyone who needs his help need only ask, to get it, cheerfully.

From memory, I don't think the photos were the same as those on Rick's CD. Do yourself a favour and get the latter - it has more comprehensible step-by-step (dis)assembly instructions than the original IIa/IIIa service manual (which will be of little use unless you are a German native speaker, being in very terse German engineers lingo). And it covers many more cameras to similar depth - it is a treasure trove, much more affordable and more useful than e.g. the Tomosy books.

Would still be nice if the photographs from this thread would re-surface.

I have a habit, left over from dial-up days when I didn't want to have to download anything more than once, of archiving anything I think could be useful in the future. I did, of course, download this thread, with the pictures!

I've put the complete html in a ZIP and uploaded it here. I hope I am not treading on anyone's copyright.

Must admit I've found the factory manual OK for dismantling instructions - though not much else.
