Contax T3 Lens Cap Blades

Hi,

I've had my Contax T3 for about 8 months now and this problem has only surfaced recently.

When I power up the T3, the blades covering the lens do not retract all the way. A small part of it remains over the lens. Not too much though, but may be enough to cause vignettes on the photos. Still have a roll of film in it and dont want to waste it just yet if there is a logical explanation to this.

Could the battery just be weak already? I've only run about 5 rolls through the T3 and this happened. (I did do some LT exposures, at 120s)

Anyone else have a similar problem? Solutions?

Tried a new battery, still the same.

Common problem. Get it fixed or just check when you turn it on. You can move them open with your fingers.

I walk with it turned on until I get back home, so it wouldn't be a big deal for me. If you constantly turn it on and off, then it might be more of a hassle.

I have a love/hate relationship with those blades.

Any idea how much it might cost? and if parts may need to be replaced?

I tried moving the blades aside with my finger and they dont go all the way in, they seem to have a little spring left in them and still linger ever so slightly over the lens.

So damn annoying.

I'm guessing it would be in the USD160 range. Repair shops usually have this flat fee thing.
