My T3 has only one tooth on the take-up spool, and for some reason, it does not take up the film leader any more. I called Metro Camera Repair in NYC, an authorized Contax T service center. They quoted me $185 to repair this problem! 
They said they would change a new take-up spool for me.
I asked one of my friends in Taiwan. He had the same problem before and sent his T3 to Kyocera Japan for repair. The cost was only US$75 plus shipping. They also changed a new take-up spool for him. How come there is such a big difference in prices from the Contax authorized service centers in two countries? And that country is Japan, not other third world countires!!! :bangoes any one have the experience of sending cameras directly to Kyocera Japan for service? Will they take your camera from the US for service?
BTW, my friend told me some repair tech in Taiwan could simply implant a small nail onto the take-up spool to replace the function of that failed tooth. This kind of repair barely cost US$20 to be done!!! Does anyone know that any local camera repair shops here in the US do the similar way of "economical" repair? Thanks a lot!!
