Contax TVS clicking problem

Hi, this is apparently a problem that several people have posted with no solution:

My Contax TVS I won't turn on when I move the lever into position. Changing the battery results in a clicking nose for a few seconds, like the autofocus is struggling. Any ideas? It used to work just fine.

I have a TVS I as well, but I have not encountered this problem. I would suspect that this could be a bad contact in the on/off switch, and possibly a cleaning of this contact might help. I recently had a similar problem with the shutter on my Nikon 35TI, there were lots of clicking noises and it sounded like the camera was trying to focus repeatedly. I opened it up, cleaned the contacts and now it is working just fine again.

Thank you -- I cleaned the battery compartment but not the switch. Will try.
