interesting to see how contre-jour is understood in other languages. In French, when something is in "contre jour" it simply means it backlit, but in quite of a strong way. When not much backlighting is involved, you speak about "un petit contre jour".

For whatever reason, I seem to find myself shooting pictures in this kind of lighting situation a lot. It doesn't always work, but I love the results when it does.
