Coolpix A

anyone picked up one of these recently? they are available for much cheaper than the Ricoh GR now

I bought one recently and I'm very satisfied with it. Great image quality and good high iso peformance. The only thing lacking - for me - is live histogram and an EVF. It's a superbly build camera, super sharp lens, easy to work with. Raw files are outstanding with lots of latitude to work with in PP. One of the best cameras I've owned in the past few years (and I had an x100 and a ricoh gr4 as well).

I ended up with a Ricoh GR, and I'm embarrassed to say it may be my favorite camera. It handles like a fast little P&S...it's amazing to think there's an APS-C sensor in there.

I just wish they'd make a 23mm lens version (35mm equiv. field of view). (cropping is not the same)

one of the reasons i would lean more to the Coolpix A is the presence of Face Detection which is a feature i do like for when i get into the photo as well as manual video controls. in Canada, the Coolpix A is close ~$150-$200 cheaper which is definitely a selling point. it has finally reached a tempting price :/

I've still yet to see a Coolpix A in the flesh, but I have bought a GR. (I'm familiar with the GR series, and their fantastic ergonomics so it was always ahead for me).

I haven't had chance to run it through it's paces yet, but I'm blown away.

SLR wise I'm a Canon shooter, but I can see the appeal of the A to Nikon shooters.
