I'v posted some of the images from this series in the Contax sub-forum, because I wanted to pay homage to the great G system, but I should also post a few other here because they come from the first roll that I scanned at home.

I use LR as my editor and Vuescan as my scanner software. The Coolscan IV was a bargain find at a local flea market: barely used and $200 all in, including all accessories. Film was Kodak Gold 400, shot a box speed and developed at Costco for $1.69 (gotta love it!)

I had experimented a bit with older negs that had been previously scanned by a lab, to try my hand at beating the commercial results. However, this was the first roll that I have shot to be scanned at home exclusively and I wanted to share the results. I'm quite pleased and I owe big thanks to those who have offered help on this forum.

My chief problem remains that I have no clue how faithful these colors are to what was on the negative. they look pleasing to me on my calibrated monitor, but I have a feeling that if the starting point had been Fuji Superia, the end result would still look very similar to what you see here, given that I followed people's advice to scan with no adjustments and work on contrast and white balance in LR.

Very nice photos, and good scans!

I wouldn't worry too much about being faithful or accurate to the film's color. Get your exposure right, your white point or, even better, gray point calibrated, and what you have is what the film recorded. It's more important that you produce pleasing colors and good quality results. You'll see the difference between films as you use the scanner more.
