How does one get his photographs copyrighted. I have seen photos posted on RFF with copyrights. Thanks to all for the feedback and advice.

In most countries (almost all, I would think), you automatically own the copyright to your work, be it photos, art, writing, etc. unless you choose to relinquish it.

For the USA you automatically have the copyright but ideally you register the copyright in order to protect and enforce your rights. Go here: http://www.copyright.gov/eco/ you can do pictures in bulk.

I have used the US copyright ECO system to register images. It's really pretty easy and you can register one or many for a single fee. Once I receive the registration number, I embed that in the metadata of my images.
Last time I did it the fee was about $43.00, but I think it has gone up recently.
