We did not do any extra shopping. It will be fine. Hopefully.

Maybe the fixation with toilet paper is in understanding the saying about events such as the pandemic: "this too shall pass".
Or "it's all going to sh*t"

Here in Baltimore, during any kind of snowfall, the running joke is to make sure you stock up on toliet paper and milk.
Does snow loosen your bowels??

This is the parking place of our main train station, where people commuting daily to Milan leave their cars. It is usually full of cars.
I took this photo a few days ago coming back home from the pharmacy where I had to buy my medecines. Since that day I stay home.

The signs says "closed for the health of everybody until new order" It was a very crowded place.

No photos - although my favorite tuna fish was out of stock - but things seem a little calmer today at the grocery store. Check-out lines were starting at the back of the store and taking 20-30 minutes to check-out.
The initial wave/freak-out stage has passed last night after all the cancellation announcements in the US and hopefully will not re-emerge after the 3pm State of Emergency announcement today.

Out to Lunch, on Flickr. With the outbreak of Covid-19, we get out of the house during late night hours, only. Ho Chi Minh City, March 2020.

Trader Joe's in my area (Colorado) was out of beans, pasta...and toilet paper.
Same here, though I did not get a picture. Beans, pasta, soup cans, tuna fish cans, toilet paper, paper towels, all completely gone today. Two days ago, fully stocked.
One thing I noticed which looked similar to your photo: shelves which 2 days ago were full of Dial bar soap, were now completely empty. Right next to that, the shelves with Dove bar soap were full and untouched. Make of that what you will.

And I thought this madness was limited to us here in Australia. Seems not. Humans are strange.I went to Target late last night, and this is what's left of the toilet paper aisle. Taken with a Pixel 2, then went a little nuts on the editing sliders in Google Photos because things feel a bit nuts right now. There are paper towels left, because I guess everyone is too soft to wipe their butts with Bounty.

No photos, but I’ll get out later today and have a wander around… not that it appears there’ll much groceries to buy...
Yesterday, overnight, our local supermarket shelves were stripped bare of bread, pasta, rice, milk, bottled water, tinned vegetables, tinned meats, paracetamol, bleach, paper goods, cleaning sprays, etc etc.
Seems February’s Be Kind month has been followed by Screw Everybody Else month.

My wife flew back here last night from a ski trip in France. Flight was hastily arranged due to some sudden uncertainty about a whole raft of issues, so was $1,800 one way.
She's self quarantining for two weeks at home, as advised. Trying to stay away from me, she is taking the bottom floor and bath and I get the upper. We'll see how long this lasts, lucky to have the housing option. I put a Keurig downstairs with some coffee, cups, silverware, plates and dishwashing liquid. The dog walks up and down so that's a vector of transmission as he is a bit kissy.
Cooked some scrambled eggs this morning and laid it at the top of the stairs and she came to get it. That's the plan. She may soon tire of eggs and cereal. Very Love-in-the-Time-of-Cholera-ish.
iPhone photo, apologies.
The whole thing might be a bit much, but her idea and she's a doctor, so any pooh-poohing will be forwarded to her.
