If this has been asked before, I apologize.

I received 2 days ago an RF645. All is wonderful except rangefinder alignment. It focuses correctly at infinity but the dual images are "off" vertically. How do I correct this?

While I'm asking questions, here's another. On the back side to the right of the viewfinder there's a little round plastic cover under which there's a recessed little screw. What's that for?

As for my once-trusty Mamiya 7, its focus is out-of-whack for both alignment and infinity after I kindly dropped it on a rock. Is this something I can correct myself? If so, how?

Thanks for any and all help.

On the back of the Mamiya is a little plastic cover. If you carefully pry it off (with an exacto knife) you will be able to reuse it. Once off you will see two screws, both of which have Loctite on them. You would need a needle eyedropper to carefully drop a small amount of glue remover solvent on them. The top screw is for the vertical alignment. The bottom screw is for the distance adjustment. I suggest you start with the distance adjustment first.

You should mount your camera on a tripod. Focus at infinitiy. Adjust the distance screw making sure the lens is set to infinity. If necessary, do the same for the vertical screw.

Once you have made your adjustments, you need to add a very small drop of LokTite removeable threadlocker (using a needle oiler) to the screw being sure not to make a mess of it!

Put the cap back on and you should be good to go until your next big drop!

Thank you very much. The Mamiya 7 is the more severe of the two situations.

You have written a clear description, and one that makes me want to be appropriately careful.
