Could you be happy with only a 35mm lens?

I'm having a hard time getting used to the 35mm FL on my Hexar AF after so many years with the Ricoh GR-D...

Hoping I improve!
 
I'm forced to...only a 35 for my M6, and 35 on my Contax T3.

I like it. It's simple, for sure, but I rarely think I miss something.

VERY occasionally I'd like a really wide...like a 15 or something. But I've could, and do, live with a 35 and make no excuses.
 
95% of what I shoot is with a 35mm
I wouldn't miss any other focal lengths if I didn't have them.

That said, in medium format I'm always shooting 80mm's.
 
on a RF i can definately live with only a 35. But with a DSLR, which i use less and less, i prefer 50mm. where's the logic? simply by looking in the VF i feel inspired most of the time by the RF/35 or SLR/50 combos
 
Although in certain situations, it's 80% on a 35, I would really miss a 50 and a 28.

Long ago, I had a great experience with a 40, and maybe, as a unique FL, it could fill the bill...?
 
Oddly , perhaps , it would be a 50 cropped to 67 on the M8 , of which I have several - all vintage .
My CV 35 f2.5 becomes a neat 70 on my Leica Digilux 3 too !
Of course , a manual K 50 on an APSc DSLR - is a nominal 70 too !
This is all new , as I used a 50 on 35mm film for decades before the zoom explosion !
 
I think Tom A. has the best approach. Keep every lens you buy and just store the ones you aren't using. That way in 2 years time when you get a hankering for 12mm you can just pull the ole CV 12 out of door stop duty and go out and shoot pictures. Shoot the 12mm for a couple months if you like and then move on to your next fancy. This way you are following the one-lens at a time doctrine but not constantly re-buying all the time.

I shouldn't have sold that 21.... 🙁
 
50 mm has always been my ALL Time Fav
But lately 35 has been a Fun Change
Could be happy with a 35 as long as I still have a 50. ...😉

It's pretty much all I've got now.

F100 + 35/2

D80 + 24/2.8

Olympus E-P2 + 17/2.8

I could switch the Nikon lenses around to get different FOVs but I rarely do.

That's weird I'm the opposite: almost always use the 35/2 on my 5D2 but for some reason only want the 50mm on my M4-P. But if I had to choose one for life it would be the Leica and the 50.
 
It can be done, yes, and it's the only lens I had with my Bessa R. I was happy with it until I discovered the 28mm which feels much more natural to me. Now that focal length is pretty much all I use (well, the GR-D III equivalent, anyway). I probably had to pass up some shots because I didn't have a telephoto or zoom, but it's all good; there's plenty of photos to be taken.
 
I could do it if I had no other choice but I wouldn't be happy. I do use a 35mm lens most of the time but I also use 50, 28 and 21. Jim
