I was becoming desperate thinking that, in two threads, not a single person was understanding what I was saying. hms, there were a considerable number of persons directly answering your original question proving that they did understand what you ask and not trying to hide anything or to explain themselves [me included]. The rest might just feel what they say: that the world is not black and white but there are midtones as well. So i consider this post of yours either being ignorant to the persons answering you or being a sign that you yourself didn't read them carefully.

I don't understand why you want to prove that people think collecting is taboo. Yes some people might think so but there were plenty of answers proving the opposite.
I personally begun with collecting stamps, still have a large collection but i'm a passive collector in the last 10 years: did not add anything. Dunno why. So i guess my collecting instinct had to be satisfied somewhere else.

In the future, if you want a sdtraight black/white answer to a poll, i suggest you to note that you want only votes not written answers to the question.

Ruben, there is a time or date tag on each post in a thread, in the bar just above a person's avatar. The post you are referring to by Byuphoto is almost 2 years old.

No problem. It was funny to read the other posts earlier on this page. There is a good example of one poster's old tricks, and there is another poster who still sounds indignant.

to bad there's not an option for "both." I have more than one analog watch, and several mechanical models, but it's not because it "Helps Better Personal Craft Of" telling time 🙂 I prefer analog dials, and like mechanical watches. I only need one at a time, but each worked when I got it, and each has a use, just like my cameras.

Of course, I've a finely honed skill at jsutification, as well 🙂 (not that this thread is old as dirt in internet-years)

I'm a photographer, but I'm also a historian. I have a tremendous love of photography, as I do history. I surround myself with random historical objects, as tangible connections with the past. Old cameras are part of that. I collect some old cameras because they're fun to use. I collect some because they look cool on a shelf. I collect others because they capture something about the zeitgeist of the period that happens to appeal to me.

With my modern gear, I'm far more utilitarian. I have 1 dlsr. With it, I have two modern AF lenses, a lensbaby, and a Holga lens attached to a body cap. 1 digital P&S. 1 Holga. That's about it. Don't need or want too much more.
