Don't worry about your French, you should read my Spanish. Here is one that I like but am torn as to how much contrast to give it.
Thank you, Carter.

thanks Meven
Well , Charjohncarter ,the trouble with your picture is the light, according to she shadows, you shooted it at noon, so you cannot have any volume on your picture, wait for the end of the afternoon or early in the morning. Personnaly I prefer not to shoot during noon and furthermore during summer . I don't think you can get nice contrast and tone with such a light, sorry

I like to shoot at high noon too. It can be done. The second shot w/ the contrast dialed up looks much better. The trick is to use curves and selectively add and detract contrast, brightness, etc to local areas of your shot. Your composition has the eye going past your main house and following the other houses out of the picture frame too, always a no no. Not the most compelling subject or angle. Best to go to the next photo. One has to be ruthless when editing. Any keeper has to be absolutely the best that you can get from that particular subject. Anything less than that is less than that. If I get a small handful of what I consider good shots in a year I am very happy.

The shot w/ the man walking and the boat in the background....this is a good shot. Everything works. Great atmosphere and interesting old time feeling. The man adds a lot of human scale and interest. Should be worth printing and see if the web jpg translates to a good print.

Something could be done with the position of the girl and chairs but you cutted hers feets, sorry to say that but it only make me think about voyeurism . In fact I am surprised you don't show us some picture I saw in your site about life in the city
bingley , I don't go often in paris, but I think I can have nice stuffs in bordeaux too

I'd like to hear what some of you think...

Well, why do you think it's a missed picture, Ned?
Rdu gave one reason why: you cut the legs of your subject, and I admit it's a bit disturbing.
But I really like the (over)exposure, the saturated colours, that say: "I'm burnt".

I think it's missed and it's obvious, no? Nothing in the picture is intentional other photographing the sexy boobs. And yet, there is something appealing. I think you summed it up well.

Yes I agree, it would have been better with the full car but I was in such an unconfortable position when taking the shot it was difficult to get everything perfect and I was mainly trying to capture the guy with his cart on the left.

As Ned, for me, it'sdefinitely the first one. This picture is interesting because it's in colour ... great colours by the way

Hello meven,
I also prefer the color (US) version. The yellow road striping is excellent.

I quite like these, they were taken in Cambodia with a Contax G2 with 28/2, unfortunately I can't remember the films I used. The B&W were taken in the floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, the colour ones were taken in Phnom Penh market.
I really like the tone and the texture of the concrete floor in the last one.
BTW Cyrille, I think you should change the title of the thread you might get more attention and more posts.
Cheers

I like these pictures, black and white are nice, even if i would have preffered a bit more grain
For the last one, why didn't you focused on the chicken in the foreground ?
Florian1234
it's just hide and seek
I can second Cyrille. I, too, like those photos. Also the tonation of the colour shots. Since I'm a beginner I don't know myself how to achiefe that kind of tonation.
And I consider the photos I took for the first roll with my Fed-2 a bit lame in comparison to a big amount of photos appearing here in both, the gallery and the various topics in the forums.
Feel free to have a look on my photos in the galleries and post comments.
My next roll is about half way done by the time I write these lines. This time it is colour film from a drug store's homebrand (Rossmann) and I made variations of exposure time and played around with the handheld lightmeter, too.

Thanks for the comments, I know the first photo would have been better if I didn't cut the boat. I don't know why I seem to always cut object in the lower right corner...
For the last photo, I focused on the chickens at the back because in my opinion they were more interesting than the others, they were just two of them separated from the group. I think the picture works more that way, it has a bit more dynamic, if I had focused on the others it might have been boring and uninteresting.
So where are your photos guys?????
Cheers
Max
