But the 35mm Nokton is great value at $900.00 (admittedly it has no competition) so few hundred more for an ultra fast (new) 50mm doesn't seem unreasonable to me. At $1500.00 I'd take it over a used Hex every time!
That's an interesting position Keith, the Hex can be had for about the same price as well, but it's signature is known while the Nokton still is shrouded in mysteries.
I say it should be pretty unbelievable before I'd trade the Hex for it, since there is hardly any serious competition for the Hex. It is fast, has near unnoticable vignetting if any at all, built like a tank and can be used as a standard lens, although it is very large as a standard.
Curious if the Nokton would improve on any of these features!

Well than maybe it'll sell for $599?
fingers crossed.

It's only a rumour yet (I believe it when Stephen announces it), but people are already complaining about falloff, price, size and weight! Unbelievable!
As for falloff, size and weight, well, 'you cannot change the laws of physics'.
Ye but no one has mentioned the bad bokeh yet … bugger

Maybe more reasonable to compare to Nikkor 50mm/1.1?

Bah, I was hoping for an improved Nokton 50/1.5, with closer focussing... The 50/1.1 will probably be too big to replace an existing 50.

bring in the shots, then!

I'd say it's time we get some f1.1 shots uploaded in this thread, dontcha? Even if the whole story turns out to be bogus, it's fun looking at the f1.1 shots.
Anyone with a Nikkor or Zunow f1.1 around that cares to join in and show us what the Nokton actually would be up against? Hacker, where are you?

Whatever it is, I want one!!!! I'm shelving the plans for the Noct which I'm just about to plonk down cash for. What timely information!
Cheers,
Cheers,
The Nikkor F1.1 was 9 elements in 7 groups. I doubt any optical engineer would go that route with modern glass available. My bet is on 7 elements in 5 groups, more like a Canon 50/1.2 RF lens. The difference between F1.1 and f1.0 is about 1/4 of a stop.

GASitis.. finally cured?
I am ignorant of the optical limitations of manufacturing such a lens, but can a 50/1.1 Sonnar formula be constructed? Going by the ZM 50/1.5 optimization, will focussing be an issue?
*random thoughts*
yeah, a 50/1.1, affordable lens would be nice.

About time to start a poll about the new (rumoured) CV 50mm super-fast.

Cheers,
This makes two of us. This is perfect timing and my goal was to buy a Noct in the next 3 months. But that would have required me liquidating a lot of gear and some serious skimping and saving. I am still going to sell off unneeded equipment, but I am hoping that this rumoured lens will materialise before I actually commit to a Noct.
And if Mr Kobayashi & Co can deliver a 50/1.1 that performs like the 35/1.2 and at a similar price, I will be one very happy Cosina customer.

yes, and it should be as small as a V4 cron. OK maybe not.
Hopefully it will be asph and have none of the focus shift issues associated with some recent CV offerings. If it happens.
If its superb, there must be a lot of 50 1.2 hex owners who are worried about resale value....

the inevitable focus shift, purple fringing, and QC issues.
However, I'd still buy one, but only if I could be the first
