Funny, I'm excited about this lens and
1)there's no way I could afford it at any price
2) I have no interest in fast lenses. I'm a "f2 and be there" kind of guy.
Desire (GAS) doesn't have to attach itself to an object. Gas for it's own sake. . . hmmm, maybe it's something I ate.

Enjoy Life.
Sample photos look very promising Tom. For the money it should be quite a bang for the buck.
Is there any swirly crazy Noct-like bokeh (I know some call these aberrations!)? I actually enjoy the slightly psychedelic Noct rendering, something that I know turns the stomachs of others.
As always a hearty "well done" to Mr. K and team for developing a terrific and reasonably priced lens. It's great to have so many excellent equipment alternatives.

OMG~I noticed CV has discontinued the 50/1.5, and wondering if any faster lens will be introduced...I was looking at 35/1.2 but now my head is full of 50/1.1!!

"Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.1"? Nothing when I do a search on Flickr?!
Any direct links, please?

Only the silver 50/1.5, along with the silver 75/2.5 and 90/3.5's are discontinued. The black versions of all 3 remain in production.
As a distributor, I can not discuss lenses until they are officially announced on the Cosina and Voigtlander sites.

$1100 is a great price...maybe i'll restart a project i wasn't happy with because i needed a super fast lens.

If you go to our site (see below) and type in "Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.1" there should be 18-19 shots from it."Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.1"? Nothing when I do a search on Flickr?!

Wow - first the M-mount version of the 15mm Super Wide Heliar and now this. CV have really got my number dialed in these days. I've been holding off on the 35mm 1.2 lens, simply because I can't justify having three 35's. Somehow though 50 is a different story for me.
Tom, your shots look great.
This is an exciting announcement. We are living in good times for options in rangefinder photography.

I think the 50 f/1.5 was LTM - CV seem to be converting everything into M mount, so the Nokton will perhaps reappear.
Tom,
Many thanks for the instant lens review and the great winter scenes from Japan ( must go there sometime ).
Did you by any chance take in focus infinity shots of night time street lighting ?
The old Noctilux did a terrible job of point sources away from the inner 7mm of the frame (until it was stopped down to smaller than f/1.7). Does this new super lens correct such coma ?
Donald.

Good news for a cheaper Noctilux alternative but unless a full frame M9 appears, probably not of much use for me.

I wonder how is the bokeh of CV Nokton 50 compared to Leica Noctilux 50 F1
Resolution, vignet, flare, all seemed behind the importance of bokeh to me

There are a handful of shots done at f1.1 in my "Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.1" set on Flickr. I am not a Bokeh fanatic, but to me it looks fine.

but unfortunately I cant zoom into them.
It would be interesting to see a direct bokeh comparison.

Joe, I just shot with it and kept "mum" about it - the ones who are amazing are Mr Kobayashi and his design team!
agreed and all credit goes to mr. k and his team...but I would have had a hell of a time to keep my mouth shut that long!!

WOW! A SUPER-SPEED Lens at this price-point!
SO: What about S-Mount????
I suspect the Market for Canon 50/0.95's -converted and original- will go back to normal.
So the only question is When? Okay two questions... How many elements in how many groups....
