I'm going to have to go with the Sonnar (though I haven't used the Nokton extensively):

A couple more with the Nokton from the SFMOMA, Freestyle Legacy Pro 400 film, I think both were shot at 1.5, maybe f/2.

But I haven't tried the Zeiss. I don't see a need to, I've been quite happy with the CV.

Not entirely sure about my Nokton results... seems a bit wibbly wobbly... very different from my old sonnar. I need to practise, and look at Helen's flickr again...

I just bought a VC Nokton f1.5/ 50mm LTM lens today.......all original in the box with caps hood, VC screw to M adapter etc. Looking forward to seeing what it will do on my M6 and M8, hoping for some smooth boken, I have NEVER used one before, I'll post some samples here after I shoot!

It's not a Canon LTM 50/1.2, which is both good and bad, which is why both exist.

Get some slow film (KB-25 perhaps) and shoot the Nokton in open shade wide open. It will be sharper with a touch more contrast than the Canon but the background (and for that matter, also the foreground) will likewise also differentiate. Enjoy!! ;)

See, maybe that's good....while the Canon f1.2/ 50mm is one of my favorite lenses, but I also wanted something else that is Leicaisque/Somewhat cross between a Summarit and a Ver 2 Summilux 50mm lens, the Nokton might just do that? ~ Though I am a BIG vintage Canon LTM/M39 fan and I always shoot very slow ASA's when doing my PinUp's :)

Time will tell if this new lens jives.......

I don't shoot 50mm very often, so I want to keep only one lens. Right now I have a Canon 50/1.8 LTM, Canon 50/0.95 and a C-Sonnar, and might buy a friend's 50/1.5 Nokton. I used to have a Nokton, it was my first RF lens, but sold it last year because I'd usually take the 50/1.8 out instead.

Pretty hard task to decide which will be the keeper, but I'm between the Nokton (sharper wide open, reliable but the onion rings bokeh doesn't please me much) and the C-Sonnar (lovely bokeh, tiny, but has a bit of focus shift and it's quite softer wide open). Both have some highlight aberrations in blue that the Canons surprisingly (at least to me, that is) do not show... which is not helping me make my mind! I'm considering taking the Nokton to a tech along with the instructions for the close focus mod and see if he'd do it for me... I have zero tech skills to do it myself and having a close focus 50/1.5 would be really sweet.

Not to make your decision even more difficult, the ZM Planar does not exhibit the purple/highlight fringing as severely as the Nokton or C-Sonnar, 0.7m minimal focus distance. ;)

The Planar is a really tempting lens, and for sure an extremely reliable one, but I find myself shooting in low light a lot (in fact was the reason I found rangefinders), so the lesser stop would be missed..

I'll have to compromise one thing, and looks like it will be sharpness. Ive shot a roll with the c-sonnar and am really pleased with the outcome. it's sharp enough :)

The blurred and unrepeatable, only the Sonnar design have it. I like it very much! Bravo cmogi, you still have a good cut in your photographs, dynamic and effective shots in the message, with any lens you throw your hands and this is not common to all.
Cheers
