Inside the helical of the 35mm f/1.2 II, there is a barrel part that has the RF coupling part. I had to fix a screw inside the helical. While doing this I also noticed the lens was focusing way past infinity so I was fixing that.

Unfortunately the inner helical/rf "barrel" piece came unscrewed and now is unattached. I can't seem to get this piece to screw back in to the lower threads. This piece threads in counter-clockwise as seen from the "front" of the lens. Any time I try to screw it in, it immediately binds up. I assume it has a very specific place to screw in so as to be in the proper place but can't seem to find it??

I can't seem to find a disassembly video or anything on YouTube which is surprising. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong - anyone here done the disassembly on this lens and have any tips for this part?

Sorry for my vague description, but I'm sure if someone has taken this lens apart they'll know what I'm talking about. It is a pretty simple lens. Just getting to the focus unit is super easy. Nothing is damaged, it just unscrewed a little too much. Thanks.

Anyone? I found a kinda poor/vague assembly video on YT for the older version and it seems to be basically the same, a little different but he just screws in the part with seemingly no problem.

I don't understand why it's binding. I put the parts into the freezer for a minute to try to shrink things a little bit but that was a no-go.

The only thing I can think of is that the helical is bent out of round somehow from the loose screw that had come out into the helical, which is what I was fixing. Perhaps the previous owner tried focusing it a little too hard and warped it? There's nothing wrong with the lens otherwise so this kinda sucks.

Some help would be great. Should really not need to send in for something so seemingly simple.

One more bump. No one here has taken one of these apart??

I am stumped. The threaded inner barrel fell out with no resistance, and was moving around without resistance. The only thing I can think is that somehow it only threads in one way, from the bottom of the lens. If so, I don't know how to remove the bottom shroud to do that.

From a vague description online that doesn't seem to be the case. I can't believe this simple lens is just shot now because it won't go back together.

My guess is this would take 5 minutes for a tech who has taken these apart to put back together again. There's nothing particularly complex here. This was a parts lens to begin with because of the focusing issue that I fixed but I'm pissed because for the time being it will all have to go in a box and wait until I can afford to send it off. Who fixes Voigtlander in the USA?

If it’s a USA warrantied lens, doesn’t Steven Gandy/Cameraquest service them?

Then again, if you’ve opened the lens up and tried a DIY, they might not touch it as a warranty service.
