CV Nokton 50/1.5 vignetting?

I don't think it's surprising that you can see light falloff at f/1.5 and 1/1000 - this is hardly the situation the lens was optimized for. I shoot a lot of f/1.4 lenses, and they all have light falloff. Since I mainly use them in dark places, and don't put my subjects in the extreme corners of the frame, the light falloff isn't a problem. If what I want is shallow depth of focus, I can still get this at f/2 (or even f/2.8) in brightly lit conditions, and by f/2.8 light falloff is completely gone.

Yep, it's vignetting allright 🙁
Most pronounced at f1.5, but still slightly visible at f2 and f2.8. It about disappears at f4.
Attached is an example at f1.5....
Well, I guess I'll just have to live with it. I shoot mostly B&W, so it's not a big deal - I just have to keep that in mind and adjust accordingly - either after scanning, or just dodge the corners during enlarging.
Otherwise, I like the lens. It's on the heavy side, but otherwise quite capable.

What I still find disturbing is that it is obviously stronger at the rhs than ate left corners ? How can this happen if it is a design fault ?

Bertram, it's not always the case, although when I look at all photos, there IS a tendency to show more light falodff on the right side...

However, I scanned several other (non-test) shots, and I don't think it will be that much of a problem - I'm not shooting people with uniformly lit white walls in the backround that often 🙂

Pic attached - I think it was at f1.5...

That's true of course but it made me really curious now, I'll do some tests at f1,5 next time I am out with the Nokton ! Got a Jupite 8 to compare both a f2........

Best,

Chrome as in Koda-chrome fuji-chrome I would imagine. I think he means slide as opposed to print films.

Ah, I see. I related this statement to the lens and could not find any explanation !

Well this is not my mother language and so associations simply are not linked sometimes !

this reminds me of a problem i had when my camera needed a cla- as i recall the shutter curtains weren't closing in sync. from the way i'm reading the examples it looks like the light/dark is from one side to another rather than vignetting in the 4 corners.
