Hey all. I've been posting threads and doing research all over the place. So today I came down to a few decisions for lens choices. Keep in mind that I am lensless and have a Zeiss Ikon, and LH-6 hood I bought used (assuming I was getting the Nokton). here are my choices...

1. Wait and find used CV 35mm 1.4 SC Nokton (Can't afford full price)
2. Buy CV 40mm 1.4 SC brand new today and film and start shooting.

3. Buy 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar PII new today and film and start shooting.

My over all choice would be a 35mm Nokton SC because I'm going to need the lens speed but the price is to steep and I can't find one used. I could get the 40mm which is wayyyy cheaper but my Zeiss Ikon does not have 40mm frame lines. Has anyone ever shot with a 40mm and 35 frame line? If so tell me what you think. I settle for the 35mm f2.5 color skopar pII but much prefer one of the Noktons. What would you all do?

two recommendations: get the color skopar over nighted to you to start shooting.

or

sell the zeiss ikon and get a nikon fe or fe2 kit with 24/2.8 ais 50/1.4 ais and 85/2.

if a nokton looks a little steep now, an m mount may be frustrating. get a camera and shoot.

I have a rule... if you want something don't buy the next best thing as you'll always think about what you could have had. Then you'll end up selling something to buy it anyhow and making a loss of $$$ :)
If you 'need' speed, get a f1.4.

Both the 35mm and 40mm are great little lenses, comes down to what focal length you prefer. It is possible to use the 35mm framelines on the ZI for the 40mm, but I believe you need to modify the lens to bring them up. I under stand the 40mm brings up the 50mm framelines by default.

Dan, sorry I don't agree with you. If you want to shoot with a RF, selling it to buy an SLR is silly. Don't rush, get what you want. Being happy with you gear is very important IMO.

After some extensive research I decided to get the 35mm Color Skopar and film. I was able to trade in my used LH-6 hood for the LH-4 brand new. With the rest of the cash I plan to save for a scanner and more rolls of film. So far I like this little lens.
