Damn you Epson!

There's more or less two ways to get customers to buy a product, complete with many variations of each.
A.) cut costs through cutting cost of production, etc.; move factories to the third world, and eliminate thorough QA
B.) Increase quality and features

A. has a place at Walmart
B. has a place at B&H

My scanner was purchased at neither place, but for the money I payed for it ($250) I expected it to be a reliable product, that did not perform to the level of Epson's top end scanners, or a Nikon neg scanner. Nevertheless, the price point demanded a level of performance and reliability significantly above a Xyphthelenol scanner costing $29.

But I agree fundamentally...companies have decided that the only way to increase sales is to largely cut costs through quality of labor, etc. The resulting race to the bottom will sting us all, more than likely.

NOTHING means no lights on either ? If so I'd second Brians suggestion, check the complete power supply, adapter, cable plugs.
