So I'd like to use my 39mm filters and hoods on my Elmar, Summar, FSU, others with A36 front ends. I obviously need an adapter.

I can only find one such adapter (A36 to E39) and it happens to be the Leitz SOOGZ. Apparently, these were once reasonably priced. Not any more. I'm stunned that there are no other makers of an item that once likely had a wide market.

Could it be I'm missing an obvious source? Is this something that can be made/commissioned? I don't need the Leica name on this item, and its not in me to spend over $150 for this when a SOOTF replica can be had for $15, and that's a much more specialized market than the adapter I'm seeking. I've seen the SOOGZ sell for well over $200 on the auction site. Yes, actually sold. Clearly that's the realm of collectors, I'm a user😡

Ideas?

Johan, Roger,
Thanks for the suggestions. You're both suggesting I have this adapter custom-built (I saw nothing existing at SRB Griturn). That has the potential to be as expensive as the Leica original. Its all so silly. As I said before, I'm stunned this doesn't exist from multiple 3rd party manufacturers.

Vobluda, heavystar doesn't offer an A36 to E39 adapter and hasn't in the past. But, heavystar does offer a SOOTF replica which is an E36 to E39 adapter specifically for the Summitar. A very special item that has a quite limited market, yet I can find it easily for ...... $15 USD! The more widely applicable A36 to E39 adapter, however, is about an order of magnitude more expensive (or more).

Sorry if my frustration is....well....obvious.

Old Leica equipment seems to have its own kind of logic. The more useful and popular an item was, the more were made. The fewer that were made, the more expensive it is now. So what we have is pricing inversely proportional to the original product value. Look at the pricing of a (moderately useless) Ic vs a (hugely successful workhorse) IIIc for example.

It's enough to make a person go digital!

Cheers,
Dez
