Developing Tri-X...

Chris, I've been using distilled for developer, stop, and fixer...but not for rinse OR photoflo. Maybe that's part of my problem. I'll make up the photoflo with distilled.

That definetely sounds like it could be the source of your problems David. I personally only used distilled water with my final wash sequence (I do 10 tips of 10) and then the LFN or photoflo. When you break it down, these are the last time the negs are in contact with the liquid, so if you use tap water for the final sequences, anything like mineral deposits in the hard tap water will invariably be left on the neg.

Also, I use tap water for my first wash stages, as it helps in removing the excess fixer of the negs.
 
Success! Third and fourth rolls look even better, now that there aren't water/wash marks on them.
