Diafine inside problems

I'm on my third roll of Tri-X (@1280) using Diafine and have a problem: while I'm getting nice shots outside, inside shots taken closer and at lower apertures are dark, with a lot of grain.

What could I be doing wrong?

Hi. I've found that diafine/tri-x at about that speed is fine outside and *great* in window light indoors, but no good with tungsten light. I just shoot it at about 800 under lightbulbs and then it's ok. But I only love it in indoor daylight.

I also find for best results you need to meter the shadows and place them two stops under and ignore the highlights - this makes a big difference sometimes indoors where the meter gets thrown out by lamps etc.

Either of those might help...

Tom is right; Tri-X likes a bit more exposure under tungsten light. It is less sensitive to red light than to daylight. Half a stop should be sufficient compensation, I think.

Thanks for the advice. I shot some tests at 800 last night and the image quality vastly improved.
