Today I was shooting blind in more ways than one: I took all but two shots from the chest and I forgot to reset the frame counter. Since I only used the rangefinder on occasion for focusing, I can't imagine how they'll turn out; though I guess I'll never know since I broke the film :bang:
Previously, to ensure the shutter would behave normally, I'd have to give the winder a firm twist just before I released the shutter so all the gears would be properly aligned. If I didn't, the winder and shutter speed selector would slowly turn back a millimeter or so, the speeds would sound "off" and B mode wouldn't function properly (sounded like the 1/1000 speed). Since I didn't reset the frame counter, I had no idea how many pictures I'd taken, advanced past the last frame and had to release the shutter half wound with futile hopes of getting the film back in the canister.
Since then, I haven't had to do anything excessive to get everything to get everything to align properly and everything sounds more or less accurate. By any chance could releasing the shutter half wound have fixed the aforementioned issue or did I just break my camera in a different way?

... Also, if I want that film developed, will I need to find a way to blindly thread it back in the canister?
