I deleted my thread, Wayne. Didn't see the point anymore. Nothing to do with you, or anybody else. Just my own goals 🙂

I'll be off for a while.

I hope to see you over at flickr. 🙂 Have fun exploring b&w. Having shot mainly color for years, learning to develop my own b&w and exploring the possibilities w/ new films and old lenses has been a revelation.

There is a message here. 😉

Be well. The best of light!

Cheers!

That's a shame ... I thought the thread was very interesting with the reactions it drew.

It would be a shame not to see you around here for a year Roland ... I personally would/will really miss your wisdom.

Entirely your decision of course though and I wish you well no matter what you chose to do. 🙂

This is all a little dramatic. Let me lighten it with an apposite excerpt from the wonderful 'Rear Window', where Jeff is fending off the lovely Lisa, whose last line here is beautifully conceived and acted:

Lisa: Not quite it seems. (She puts on her white scarf.) Goodbye, Jeff. (She turns and starts for the doorway)
Jeff: You mean, 'Good night.'
Lisa (standing in the darkness of the doorway): I mean what I said.
Jeff: Well, Lisa, couldn't we just, uh, couldn't we just keep things status quo?
Lisa: Without any future?
Jeff: Well, when am I gonna see you again?
Lisa (hesitantly): Not for a long time...(pause)...at least not until tomorrow night.

Dear Roland,

RFF will be much poorer in your hopefully temporary absence. I hope to watch your progress in an interesting and challenging project at Smugmug or FlickR. I have very much enjoyed the signifcant contribution you and others make here.

all the best and Good light,

Gear lust, like all lust, is often temporary. I have my gear now (I may even shed a good portion of it), most of my project cameras are complete, and now I'm taking more pictures and working on my darkroom skills. Roland if this is the place you have come to welcome, and best of luck.

It is not because one starts a thread that he owns the ensuing discussion ...
just like being in the middle of a chat in a bar and leave and ask everybody else to talk about something else.
But well, manners do not really count on the internet I guess.
