Bought legally, upgraded legally several times, and currently back at V6 on my main picture-processing computer, in spite of owning one of the CS versions. Since I don't support their current business model, which assumes I'm a thief until I prove otherwise, I won't be upgrading again, and am looking for an alternative, if anyone has a good idea about that.

I didn't pay for either.  Don't use them instead I use Gimp and DigiKam.. :D :D :D :D

I'm a Linux user...............

I'm currently on the Lightroom 4 trial with 24 days to go, so I checked "Didn't pay for my Lightroom".

I bought CS 3 plus upgrades to CS 5, plus CS 5 for my college student daughter who also uses Light Room 3, which I also bought.

A burglar broke into my detached garage apartment (where I have my dark room and work space) and stole all my 35mm SLR's a couple of years ago. Fortunately my Leicas were in the house under my desk.

I have little appreciation for theft of any kind.

While in school, I bought the education versions at a steep discount. I have upgraded them since, but man those education discounts are nice.

Also, if you hit up labs.adobe.com you can try a lot of the software for free before it gets released.

Instead of stealing your SLRs, he might have copied them and left you with the originals. More SLRs, less moral high ground. Wicked!

I have an old version of PS that I still use for some minor post-scanning tasks. I think it's a 'for home use' copy from my workplace at the time. As soon as my scanned image files are 8bit I only use Gimp (and Linux).

I paid for the whole Adobe CS5.5 suite. This stuff is used for my paying work every day. You wouldn't believe how many professional photographers and web designers I've met over the years who gleefully admit to using pirated software. These same people would screech like banshees if someone used their work without paying.
