As I have worked in the software industry and respect the work it takes to develop and support apps like these I have bought or legally obtained everything on my computers.

**Pats self on back**

Lightroom came with my M9. I still haven't downloaded it yet. That was over a generation ago in Lightroom versions. Oh well. I'm a linux user so it doesn't really matter that much to me.

Phil Forrest

paid the Bibble Pro (remember that one?) and then the LR upgrades from it.
Don't use PS... to many tools to learn and so little time for it.

Bought legally, upgraded legally several times, and currently back at V6 on my main picture-processing computer, in spite of owning one of the CS versions.

About the same here - except that I still use Photoshop 4, even though I own (and indirectly paid for) three successor versions.

In general, I'd rate me as a involuntary Photoshop buyer - I certainly loved PS3, 3.5 and 4, but after 4 or at the very latest 5 its quality and elegance went downhill. If the later versions I own had not come bundled along with Premiere/CS (which I was forced to upgrade for client file format issues rather than for love of slower software and meaningless novelties), I would not have bought any of them - the pointless interface changes they've done almost every time were more expensive in terms of learning time than any benefits their "improvements" would have brought me. Even more so as the few handy novelties that I really use are also in Lightroom - which I use for most photo work, as I do little to any image beyond exposure correction, crop and spotting.

By the way, even PS4 is somewhat on the way out here - on my main computer it already has been replaced by PhotoLine 64bit, a piece of indie shareware modelled after pre CS Photoshop (which I'd now rate as more capable than PS4/5, while keeping closer to the original handling and speed than any of the bogged down and clumsy CS versions).

Downloaded and used Illegally for the time i was in highschool doing nothing more than one would do in paint.
When I started using PS for editing my images I was still too young to get the student discount so kept using it as us until i started my university studies.
Now I don't support piracy in its fullest but when an original copy of the software costs as much as the 24-105 L from Canon you really must be insane to purchase it especially if you photograph for a hobby and not for living. (Mind you In the time i have been using it illegally we didn't have access to paypal nor could we buy directly from adobe's website...) Now ? I sourced it for free from our informatics sciences university completely legally and have a paid Lightroom license but didn't use it for quite some time...

Well, that is why I use PSE. It has more functions that I would ever need, and LR isn't that outrageously priced either.

I have a couple of versions of PSE on my computer. I haven't used either in a while. I also LR3 and 4 trial version.

I have a couple of interesting photo editing programs on the iPad ...cheap!

BTW- has anybody noticed any significant difference LR3 and version 4? Enough to shell out more $$ anyway.

Paid. I'm a full time visual designer. I make living with what I create using the tools like Photoshop. You wouldn't rob a carpenter and steal tools to build your house, would you?

Creative suite Design Premium Academic bought for $199 a few years ago. Lightroom 3 with my Leica X1, and after they replaced the camera for a faulty dust seal, a new TAN and LR4 along with it :) i don't know how they do it but noise processing in LR4 is insanely good compared to LR3 and photoshop CS4

Remember when we pay $600 for Photoshop, we are paying $400 for our share of the development and support cost for our copy.

And each of us is paying an additional $200 to cover those same costs for Bill Roberts, cmdrzed, colyn, danielmk2, forsakenrider, jarski, Mablo, MaxFrank, meso, Tadhgo and other people who did not pay theirs.

When we pay $150 for Lightroom, whether direct purchase or bundled in the price of a M9, we are paying about $100 for our share of the costs plus another $50 for cmdrzed, colyn, forsakenrider, haempe, karlori, MaxFrank, rxmd, Travis L. who did not pay their share.

Thanks to all of you who were honest and help pay your share. Those who did not should not ever expect me to do anything for them.

edit: The lesson is to save confession for church. Don't add your name to a public list of people who took things without paying.

Dear Bob,

before you go on behaving like a dork in your attempt at public humiliation, at least read post #10 and ask for a better worded poll. Thank you.

Best,
rxmd

Edit: No matter who confesses what in church, it's pretty low of you to write up others' names for public humiliation and then claim the moral high ground. Double minus points for taking the extra time looking up their member page URLs, while failing to do a fact check.
