I have some T-max100 and Tri-X to develop in Rodinol, they are rated within a minute of each other (12mins/13mins), can I do them together (at about 13 minutes)? Or am I asking for trouble?
Mike

Bumpity....thanks Ravinder, but I was hoping somebody had tried this before (I'd feel more comfortable if they were both Tmax or Tri-X and Plus-X). I have some shots here I'd prefer not to lose....anybody done this before?

I have. Can you remember the lighting conditions, Mike? If it was contrasty lighting then develop for 12 minutes. If not, go with 13. If there was a mix, then 12:30 is good.

If the shots matter, then don't do it. Simple as that. Development is measured in sometimes as little as 15 second differences. If it matters, then it does. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. Only you can decide if the difference in time and resulting difference in contrast will be acceptable.

I'm short on fluids. I have plenty of developer, stop and fixer, but I need 2 beers during developing, + 1 for fixing, and I only have 4 left. Not enough for two tanks.....
Yeah, the shots matter.....trouble is I like 100ISO in one cam and 400 in the other. I think I'll wait till I have a Tmax400/100 or Tri-X/Plus-X combo before taking a shot at it.
Thanks for the input....now I have to go to the beer store.

I do mix films a lot in the same tank, but I do not mix times. But in your case Dad, as the difference in times is less than minimal, I would mix time as well, averaging, as other friends here already stated.

If I had a bigger difference in times, I just open the tank when necessary and add the other film. I such a case I split into two the first long shake.

Cheers,
Ruben

I often have to develop film at different times because I usually am in a bit of a hurry, but I do it the other way around. I would place the reel which needs less film on top and remove it at 12 minutes. By the time I've removed it completely, it should be about 13 minutes for the other one.

I've done what Clarence does; it's a PITA but it works. Just put the first roll in another tank of water, then when the 2nd roll is read for stop, combine again.

But a better idea, IMO, is TX and APX100; both are the same time.

It's done and they're drying, I averaged and did them about 12:45 (Rodinol 50+1) . I'll let you know how they turned out.

Single malt? You're high society! Mine's called Whyte and Mackay, Glasgow Special, blended Scotch whiskey.

Hm, never tried T-grain films, but as far as I know they are more sensitive to development than Tri-X. So I'd risk underdeveloped Tri-X over overdeveloped T-Max and go for 12 mintues.

I started DIY development with Amaloco AM74 wich is idiotproof and most films up to 400 are rated at the same speed.
