Well-known
I have noticed that stores sell inexpensive compacts based upon zoom reach , with no information on sensor size max aperture / 'shutter' speeds etc.
Some 20-30 year olds scoff at a camera with just a nom 28-150 zoom [ in old money ].
I was a touch apprehensive buying my 40 yr old daughter a Fuji XF1 with it's short zoom f1.7-f2.8 lens as most of her mates expect on lens to do everything.
However, she was raised on SLRs and has a Panasonic G1 etc , so it was not an issue .
I do note however , that the XF1 and Apple 'phone get a lot more usage .
Maybe the snapshot landscape has not changed so much , but digi-boxes are so much more capable in this respect .
