Digital Darkroom : V700 vs Mutli Pro for B&W

Weird, for b&w I picked the first shot you have -- it seems to have a larger dynamic range (look at the hotspot on the head, it's blown on the bottom two and only a little on the first). Despite the grain, there's also more detail in that photo. Also, I'm having trouble seeing a difference between #2 and #3. Only difference is that #3 appears ever so slightly sharper.

You mention the v700 is 1/6th the price of a dedicated scanner.. it's that cheap compared to the multi-pro?! I thought it was more like 1/3!
