Here's a guy's gallery of shots from a Fuji F11 P&S digi cam. I think it's safe to say that his work can put most of our pics from our "superior all manual" film cameras to shame.

I saw that site just after I had bought my F10. It's very humbling to see how much quality can be had for such a relatively low price. The F10 also out shines my Canon 1D and L glass. Hardly ever necessary to do much Photo Shop work.

You always have to put that negative spin on everything. I haven't seen many "shameful" pics in the RFF gallery.

Nick. I have seen many, would you like for me to post some examples? I'll start with some of my Leica shots.

This thread is just to counter all the other sarcastic "digi P&S shooters" don't know squat posts. Why aren't you calling those people out for "putting a negative spin" on things?

Just shows that the equipment is not the answer. This guy is great, and such variety.

Reminds me, back in the late 60's, when either Modern or PopPhoto used to have an annual reader contest. The winner was a Grandmother with a Kodak box camera. 😎

You make that sound like a bad thing. Nothing wrong with getting caught up in the equipment. It's half the fun 🙂

That guy's images are great. The P&S really works well for him. When I look back at the photos when I started, my best images were from when I honestly had no idea what I was doing, just taking snapshots using my little sony V1 digital. Now it's much harder to make images I am happy with, but I continue to have fun! For a hobbiest, that's all that really matters in the end 🙂

... so, where do can you buy a "good eye" or glasses that better focus "photographic vision"? 🙄

ywenz: Thanks for posting that link, and I agree that the camera isn't as important as the photographer. There's a Magnum photographer who does great work with Olympus C5060 and C8080 (can't remember his name), he basically sets them up like RFs. A friend of mine exploits an Olympus C2100 UZi, with its measly 2.1MP tiny sensor, to great effect. (In that case particularly, it proves that good glass in front is as important as the sensor.) And while Sam Javanrouh, over on Daily Dose of Imagery uses a Canon Rebel XT, his work is really, really good. He occasionally posts some film shots or shots from an A95 and guess what? They are as strong as his digi shots, and vice versa. This Toronto skyline shot blows me away. But I still want to see it done on an M8! 😀

was used for for that Toronto scene? Was it photosohopped?

I've never seen that kind of 3d-ish look from an RF, not that it can't or hasn't been done, I just haven't seen it.

used to see those kind of pics from SLR's and ASA 25/50/64 slide film all the time. Would love to see more color slide or those types of photos from rangefinder folks!
