Digital "Toy Camera" Pictures

Having recently discovered the "toy camera" mode on my Fujifilm X-A1, I will toy with it for a while.
The plan is, these would be straight camera JPG's (no PP).
You are most welcome to post yours, if you desire, using any digital camera.

Buy a decent camera and then TRY to take technically inferior pictures with it.

And people complain about Leica ripping buyers off by selling a pre-brassed body.

The only difference is how much money you can afford to waste.

Roger, I paid $200 for my (used) X-A1 body, and, using a Minolta Rokkor lens on it, it makes wonderful pictures. I actually prefer it's output to my loved X100 and my X-E1.
Fabulous value, and I hope that Fujifilm designs this sensor into a more rugged X-body.

Great little camera, and a wicked good value.

Who cares? There's plenty of technically perfect photos that are still boring and poorly thought out to go around.

Sadly, you can't tweak the various parameters, once you dial in "toy camera" mode, but it's still fun. The effect doesn't work well with every picture (what does?). I do like this one.

Any recommendations for toy like lenses for a Leica? Attempted a DIY Holga for Leica M-Mount project but failed. Would love to play with a toy lens on the M9 for fun. Probably some old glass that would work to give this sorta effect.

Yes, I know, expensive camera crappy lens, what's the point? Hold those comments. This is just loosen up and have fun with it. Pictures in this thread are more interesting to me than a lot of the perfect photos of things shot with the latest and greatest.

excuse me, daveleo, going a little off topic (but not too far):

nightfly, I took the crappiest 50mm lens I own, an Industar 22 in silver from 1951 in horrible mechanical shape and took a stroll with my M9. It was disappointing. Besides low contrast (muted colours) and a little, just a little, vignetting no toy cam effect is visible. Maybe I should knock the front lens out....

Post processing those Leica files is much more "effective". Does it make a difference?

I did something yesterday, to simulate a toy camera effect on my X100.
Drilled a bunch of holes in a metal lens cap, screwed it on and shot away.

Nope . . . no magic there. In fact, the "bokeh" is horrid!!. But now I have a vented lens cap 😀 if I ever need one.

Looks like you´ve produced a bokeh specialist; bokeh everywhere across the frame.

But that´s an interesting new aspect. I´ll be off for a couple of days, and when I return I´ll experiment a bit......

The toy camera look..... what is it?

I took an ordinary pic and tried to emulate:

toy cameras have crappy lenses, so I added some vignetting:

Then I turned down colour saturation, well, because, see pic 2:

In my memory toy cameras work with cheap film, so I added some grain:

Almost finished, ahh, a little colour shift is missing:

I must have a GIMP plugin somewhere that says "toy camera" .
