Disapointment with the M ?

I have a suggestion. You could try a Leica M-3 (The biggest and most accurate viewfinder hands down), and add a 35mm external viewfinder?

I have a Viooh mounted on my 50 year old Double Stroke M-3. (Youxin just Cleaned, Lubed and Adjusted it on Saturday of last week)

The Viooh, if you can get a decent one, shows 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 90mm, and 135mm. Not at the same time, but with the turn of the dial.

I keep it on 35mm, because I have a 90mm Cron mounted on my M3. In an instant, I can see what the framing of 35mm would be just in case I want to use my 35mm Cron 4th version on my M3.

Just an idea...works for me.

120 prints huh? So they are square? What size? I've never gotten prints done of my 120 negatives so I'm a bit ignorant! 🙂

It depends on the format you shoot. I shoot 6x7 and that is the aspect ratio I got back. Of course 6x6 should be square...

For me the ZI will become obsolete as soon as I will be able to buy a digital ZI or equivalent camera (without compromising on size, weight and responsiveness of the trigger), which will give me a full frame B&W image of the same or better quality that film gives, without the hassle of dealing with film. I don't know how long it will take, but I don't think more than 5 years.

sounds fair ... 5 years for digital ZI ... 🙂 🙂 🙂

The M aint for everyone, not the be all end all.

Quite right. There's a very broad swath of photo uses for which the M is somewhere between a poor choice and a horrible choice. Where it does well, however, it's superb - but - and here's another thing - I think some people's way of seeing (an eye/brain thing) just doesn't get along well with a viewfinder camera. Nothing wrong with that - there are other choice that they should use happily and confidently.
