Do fake Contax G2 exist?

Hello,

I have a question, maybe a stupid one but it's bothering me
Do fake Contax G2 exist?
I would like to buy a G2 camera but I want first to be sure I won't buy a fake one. First, I thought, there were only fake Contax II and not G2. But I've just discovered that on Ebay someone was selling a fake lens hood cap for G2 so I was wondering if the fake lens hood cap exists does the fake body exist to?
If they do exist, how it's possible to recognize them?

Hi Lorine,

The G2 is a pretty sophisticated camera and it would be quite difficult (because very little is impossible) to design, manufacture and sell a fake in any number that is significant. The G1s and G2s on eBay are the real deal.

Making fake lens hoods on the other hand is a much simpler proposition. I have seen the listings for the hoods that ship from Shanghai and almost bought one of the knockoff GG-1s. However, I found an original GG-1 for the same price and bought that instead.

I don't think you have to worry about G2 knockoffs.
