I use a Tewe Polyfocus. It covers a range from 35 to 200mm and has parallax correction. However that are usually not cheep. I use it on various cameras but it mostly lives on my Leicia III with 35mm Summaron. I recently found a Japanese copy at a camera show that was in perfect condition for $40. I should have bought it.

I purchased a Leica 28mm finder so I could use my 28mm Elmarit lens on my M4 and M4-2. My M4-P, with 28mm frame lines, is dedicated to any ASA 400 B&W film.

Yes, 21 mm for the Super-Angulon,
35mm for the Summarons and Summicrons
And an hour ago the 28/35mm voigtlander minifinder arrived, that I bought from Johan. Cute little finder!

As I said: cute little finder!
Johan, your other minifinder arrived safely and it's love at first sight.

Huub,
I was pretty sure you'd love it, it suits any Barnack so nicely!
Happy shooting with it!

My Mess Ikonta has a typical fifties squinty finder. I've found that the Retina 50mm sports finder works really well and gives a real life size image.

I, too, like the Voigtlander Kontur (50mm equiv) finder for it's ability to view life-size with both eyes open. It doesn't get any better short of the return of my stolen M-3.

I'm expecting arrival of Kontur finder any day now. Currently enjoying a Retina IIa with this setup: (see "Simple 50mm finder solution" in the Retina forum).

The best camera is one that still works!
Up until this point not really but since getting the DP2M I may have to consider one. Having LCD composition as the only option is starting to irk me.

I always use a clip on finder on my gf1 and I keep the 21mm finder on my m9 all the time but only use the 21 about a fifth of the time

I do not know why this thread was resurrected but I am glad it was because I never commented.
I use an accessory finder when I am shooting my 21mm Zeiss lens on my Contax G1.
I use the same accessory finder when I am shooting my 21mm lens Leitz lens on my Leica M6.

The last post before yours was in 2013. So if you want to ask why this is revived maybe ask yourself

Back in '10 I voted No, never, but now I have a 15mm lens, so I keep the finder in my bag. I's use it for critical framing, but it's not that accurate. I've used it a few time, but usually, I just guess.

I found this thread listed in the Active Thread list but when I checked, the last post was in 2013. That is why I wondered how it was resurrected before I made my post.
a new vote will resurrect the thread so it shows up on the active threads

I have no prejudice against using accessory finders.
Because I have used an LTM camera with separate rangefinder window and viewfinder window I do not find it a chore to use an accessory finder for composing the image rather than the separate viewfinder on the camera - its neither here nor there as they say.
In fact I am kind of fond of accessory finders and have a small collection of them - my favorites being a good quality turret finders which enlarge the image when a long lens is used - unlike the Leica one which does not. The only annoying thing about accessory finders is that because they come from an earlier time the "foot" of an early finders can in some cases be slightly non standard - I presume the standardization of the accessory shoe came later. As a result some are slightly too tight for what is now the standard sized shoe on cameras. I have a couple of finders like this.

The non-standard shoe size also works the other way. I have a IIIa that requires a slip of paper under most finders so they won't fall off.

I'm not a fan of accessory finders, but of course they are needed in certain cases. The accessory VF I'm happiest with is the Leica one for my 21 - it's the plastic version with a foot lock.

I'm in the process of building this Sinar Norma Handy 4x5" camera. Right now I am using a Yashica SLR 21mm Viewfinder. This one is comparable to the Leitz 21mm Super Angulon Finder in every way.
Also shown is a 65mm 4x5 finder I just received from China. But it is PAINFUL to look through. Gave me eyestrain!
