It's not bad enough that the "Lomographic" cameras (Lomo, Holga, Diana, etc) are already way overpriced, now it looks like Lomography is aiming for the Leica crowd:
Limited-edition Gilded Lomo LC-A+
$1400 OBO
Whatever happened to the "cheap plastic camera" philosophy that was the origin of Lomography? Or maybe you can gild a pig?

I don't know. Now I am torn between this and the Fuji X100. Soon, we will likely need a new sub-forum for the Golden Lomo.

where have you been? Haven't you seen the diamond encrusted flip phones? Anything with precious gem/metals on it will command high dollar. I can dip a snickers bar in 24K gold and charge accordingly.

Don't forget the elegant wooden box, Rob.

If you can't afford the Lomo, you could bid for the seller's nude night shift nurse.

Awesome. This, no doubt, is just a revenue-growing measure, to allow them to concentrate on developing more affordable products for the rest of us.

Reminds me of this:

I'm sure there is a market for gold plated cameras - just not a big one.

Evert now and then, a gold-plated Regula Citilux will show up on eBay. The seem to sell in the $300 - $350 price range. But at least you can take nice pictures with them

We're all light!
I can only recall Saturday Night Live's faux-commercial for a triple-bladed razor (eerily predating the Gillette Mach3), and its slogan/tagline: "Because You'll Believe Anything."

The best camera is one that still works!
Sad ... and funny!
The person that perfected the method of plating plastics with metal should be shot ... the Japanese have been doing it on their custom cruiser motorcycles for years!

I looked at that camera twice, and still asking myself "why?"
That question can be used towards the buyer or the maker.
