Just got this 'Texas Leica' yesterday afternoon and don't know whether to laugh or cry. Came from KEH rated EX which, given my experience with KEH, has always been a very conservative rating. Same in this instance. EXCEPT for these images. Have shot two rolls of 120 film and both are equally bad. The first roll was expired Kodak BW400CN so I figured okay, badly expired film. These two are from a roll of fresh Arista400 EDU rated at 250.

Is there something I'm missing? The camera is pretty simple: set the aperture and shutterspeed, focus the lens and take the picture. The selector switch is on set for 8 exposures, the pressure plate is set for 120 and I wound the film to the mark indicated in the manual. Oh, by the way, the shutter sounds as loud as I'd read about. What am I missing?

Ah, the rare and elusive Texas Diana!

Looks as if it's missing some lens elements. Or a set unscrewed in shipping. Send it back.

Thanks, Dan. Just got off the phone with KEH and it's going back for a CLA/refit/fix whatever under warranty.

This must be the reason I got a call from you last night . Sorry I missed it .

A GW690 I had no idea of the monster I was creating. IT ALIVE. or in this case dead. It does have nice bokeh.

At least it's obvious. Much more madding are focus or resolution problems that are so slight that you are not sure of the cause. Negs will look fine when you pull them out of the last rinse but under magnification they show a slight missed focus, front or back or overall are just not as crisp as they should be.

Understatement of the week... :D It convinced me I have to check a few lenses I bought and never used so far.

You two need to get together. I'd bet that Tom has more he hasn't used than you do, though. :D:D

Let's see, there is a GM670 with a 100mm and 180mm. Then for the C330 a 135mm and 180mm. The Yashica ElectroX never finished a film. Same for the MinisterD. And then there is a bunch of M42 lenses (23/29/50/105/135/80-200). Also that NEX3 never left my desk since I bought it. And then I have to get the V700 set up since december 2011. Probably a lot that I even forgot I have.

Oh yes, a fed35a! And I never had a film developed of the M645 and its 80mm macro.

Gone take the G690 out for a spin this weekend. All this talk on the forum lately about them. Those lenses work just as well on it as on the 670.

thanks, this made me feel much better, it's good to know it's not just me! :D :D
