I just got that lens, and I actually rather like it.. I'm kind of goofy in that I can't pin myself down to any focal length.. some days I like the 38mm in the Contax T, and other days I shoot a lot with the 90mm Summicron.. I haven't used the Elmarit much yet, but not for lack of wanting to.. it's just been too damn hot here for the past two weeks to go out and shoot

but if truth me told, I could probably pick up a decent digicam to use the same way I use the Elmarit.. so the ZI isn't totally ruled out

Ray, I'm not sure if there's already a waiting list for the T.. but I don't think that matters since it's possibly the last camera I'd get rid of.. if only because it would be nearly impossible to replace
 
Well, well, Joe, which 90mm optic do I espy upon yon Ikon? (Good going)

I'm still thinking (when the money is there for it), a black ZI would be the perfect third body to accompany my pair of Hexars as the non-motorized option; I also think about an M6, but then remember that the ZI's mode d'emploi most dlosely mimics my Hexars', and then the latter choice seems the smarter.

Yes, it's a six-of-one, half-dozen-of-t'other deal: I somewhat prefer the overall feel of the M-series in the hand, but, to paraphrase Prof. Henry Higgins, I've grown accustomed to the Hexar's shape (and that shape has a purpose, as Dante Stella describes better than I can), which the ZI closely resembles. Film loading, shutter-speed/exposure-compensation dial setup, flash-sync speed, meter readout in-finder, etc. The way I shoot, for myself or for others, these things are important, and, by my way of thinking, it's a supreme luxury that another manufacturer, at this late date, bothers to make an M-mount RF that "transitions" fairly easily with my Hexars (and, in the process, somewhat validates Konica's basic concept). My cameras, almost all of them, are working cameras, not mere heirlooms, and being able to switch between one of my Hexars and a ZI with a minimum of mental gymnastics means a lot to me.

That Elmarit only google's correctly on M2-7.

I really love my M3, the feel and the viewfinder, in particular with 85/90mm
lenses. Not so important if you never use that focal length, of course.
Another RFF member showed me his new M3 today. What a great
camera, if all the others have to go, this one will stay ... I like to compare
it to the Shelby Cobra, the mother of all roadsters 🙂

was it the esteemed brian sweeney or the outrageous bill mattocks who advised the above? can't remember, but it was a prominent poster here.

like barrett, i'm thrilled that there are lots of options open to rff film shooters.

no doubt about the zi finder. seems to me the bessa r-series finders are wonderfully bright, too.

still like my m, though. the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, i guess.

Also it has a 28-85 lens which sold me ... plus you can get one for about $200 (at least that's what I paid for one that was still new in the box).

Can you attach an external flash to that?
 
A friend of mine recently got an Oly SP320, and really likes it. Macro mode is very nice, and it was on sale at Circuit City for $189.00USD. I haven't tried it, so can't comment otherwise, but the quick-n-dirty JPG files he showed me looked nice ... typical Oly colour balance and nice overall for a P&S.
 
earl, i'm thinking about 2 canons, the a620 and the new s3is.
genew w has both and i like his taste in digitals.
he likes the older cheaper a620 better for image quality and the newer one for it's i.s. technology and it's long zoom range.
there's a 200 dollar cdn difference in price so i'm looking harder at the older cheaper model.

and...i think my 28/1.9 is here. there was a delivery notice on the door when i got home from work but now i have to wait till tomorrow to pick it up.
