What defendant?

The one who attacks a photographer going about his lawful (if tasteless) business? Because he can hardly be fearing for his family.

Or the photographer, who could plead self defence, but is unlikely to be a defendant in law?

... so sorry, I've lost track of which side of this debate I'm on ... the photographer was by admission outnumbered, and subject to an aggressive gesture so I would normally go with him, however he may well have chosen to complimented his large DSLR and big white lens with a tactical photo-vest, in which case I'm arguing the other chaps case as a justifiable act 🙂

I have looked at the OP's flickr and noticed a photo taken from his car while a young (and a bit fat) girl was crossing the road in front of him carrying a large sign speaking of yogourt.
From someone's window, this could be a creepy photograph, shot from an hidden place, of a young person not knowing that she was getting photographed, and to be used on purpose to mock the young overweighted people wandering around.

So - isn't it fascinating to discover how things can be "creepy" sometimes, and how they sometimes obviously aren't, and for the same people ?

I think this thread can be summed up as: assault of the creep, behaving within his legal rights, will be bad, legally, for the recipient of creepiness. The rest is beautiful noise.

I try to sneak by these forum members having over ten thousand posts...
I have watched two occasions of American photographers doing street photography on the streets of HELSINKI, my hometown.
First Bruce Gilden... The workshop members said to him: The locals might NOT like his way of photographing. He didn´t listen, went ahead with bursting his hand held flash in the face of local Motorcycle gang guys... he ended up being beaten very well.
The second: Nikki Sixx was between his concert, strolling with his leicas on the street. he had his pockets stuffed with hundred dollars bills... enerytme he saw someone he liked to photograph, he vawed the bill and said: I want to photograph you ! People were so surprised to a) see this rock guy with the camera, b) surprised at him wifling with money, that they didn`t object being shot with a leica. Quite a few even cared for the money. When asked about it, he said: This way I can shoot anybody I like in any kind of situation. only the price might vary... maybe a good advice to these guys babbling about "ethics"...

If you're passing out Benjamins I guess you're more apt to have a portfolio of street shots without everybody covering their face, turning away or giving you the finger.

I don't get the fuss: why you don't get upset about the cameras in the stores and real-time "traffic" cameras across most cities?
