I'm pretty sure we've all been there.
No way you can justify the purchase. May not even put the camera to much use, but it's just so damn pretty that you have to have it.

Not many cameras I think of as beautiful objects BEFORE I think of their functionality...but this is one of them.

Probably this is one and only fixed lens rangefinder one would ever need. Well, maybe another one - lighter and smaller for hard days or specific conditions. But that's it.
 
When I scroll back my FL RF log I wish I would have started with Konica III. Expensive, compared to rest of bunch, and I hope that would slow down GAS. Sure it's wise to start with either cheapest or over midrange camera, Konica III belonging to latter breed.
 
The IIIA is beautiful and its lens is an absolute corker; but the shutter/aperture selection is a pain, the double-stroke cocking action slows one down, the shutter release is too close to the R/F hump for comfort, and the door lock should have earned its designer a powerful kick to the pods.

But that lens makes everything OK.
 
Anyone know how the 50mm 1.8 compares with the 48mm 2.0? Dante Stella writes that the 50mm 1.8 is sharper, but if anyone has the 48mm, I'd like to hear how they like it.

That's where Konica III with Konirapid MFX shutter without interlock shines :) Though, people say it's easy hack to detach it.

Before I have never noticed plain III has lower RF deck which doesn't get in the way.

And - for speed shooting I use SLR with motordrive - can not loose with that setup. Double-stroke lever is kind of...take a bit of sushi, then add raddish :)

I tried to cut a slice of bread...nope, 48/2 lens sucks at this. But it's one of finest lenses I've used, at least, with B&W film (how it comes I haven't loaded III with color yet?).

A version with the 48/2 popped up on ebay right after I bought mine.
$125 BIN price. It didn't last long, as you can imagine.

Mine has been delivered to my employer's address. Unfortunately, I work from home. Got to get that fixed for the future.

Now I'm actually looking for a chance to go in to work. (never happens)
