Is it known if the Sigma's 30mm f2.8 is the same optic in both the DP2 and the Nex version?

To answer my own question: No, eight elements in 6 groups vs 7 in 5 and 9 blades vs 7.

According to this review, the specs are the same:

I'm not sure of that means just that it is a 30mm f/2.8 as well or if they mean specs regarding distortion, elements, etc.

Thanks for the clarification. I always assumed they were...and that assumption was wrong. Both appear to be killer lenses though, so I think you'd be ok either way you choose.

The 30mm f2.8 for NEX is indeed VERY good.

Yes. I second that.

Without the need for the mount, it looks like it's even more compact. I like the 19 and 30mm on the NEX. Should be awesome on the Merrills.

Agree.
I recently returned from two weeks in Paris. I brought three Nikon lenses of which I used one (50mm) for about three hours.
Everything else (about 2500 pics) was shot with Sigma 19 and 30.
It was a real pleasure to walk around with just the NEX 7, the other lens in my coat pocket. Manual zone focus about half the time. Shot everything at f 5.6 when I could, 2.8 when I couldn't---Auto ISO.
Great fun!

The DP2m version is even better if you can believe it.

Now, that I also have the EX 2.8/19, I can also confirm that this lens is fantastic as well.
Just with a very slow AF.

Hasn't been as slow as people make it out to be. I've heard the Sony version is no speed demon either.
