OOPS !!!
I have a deeficulty which is a little awkward in collecting ex-USSR cameras - writing /engraving , which my mildly Autistic mind can't dee'cipher causes intense confusion / dee'stress !
it's like - " it looks like my Leica II [ to me THE REAL CAMERA ] but is it broken ... or is it real ? = anxiety '' Wierd !

Luckily the engraving isn't filled - like on Kievs - so i have silvered out my Kiev 4 and 4m and Zenit C titles ... KNeB seems OK !

My several Leica or '' rea-dable German '' engraved ex-Fed 1 / Zorki 1 / S allow me to surround and ground myself with '' familiar / safe '' cameras [ Leica derivatives ] at modest cost - a respite in constant chaos for me ! - and I love using them too !
Most '' real '' are Zorki 1 / Zorki S and Zenit S - because they all feel the same size / shape etc .

Bet this was not what the Russina entrepreneurs had in mind when they started ID impairing poor innocent Zorkis and Feds !

I shall continue to buy recycled Leica - likes in various finishes - politically correct or not , I am gratefull for this strange extension to my fascination - because this is THE ONLY CAMERA which is ''real'' to me - and that IS magic !

i love the paradox that my Fed 1g twins , carefully repainted / '' nickelised '' to match my Leica II twins are more REAL to me than the genuine Fed 1/ Zorki 1 - it's literally all in the mind .

no offense (in fact, amusement intended) but it's kind of unfair to prefer a great camera in it's own right (with features and design that separates it from the original example) be disguised. I'd think that one could appreciate the workmanship and design better if the creators were honored as intended, without veiling the origin in counterfeit.

But logic rarely enters the mind of the enthusiast 🙂

... or the autist !
I totally agree with you - maybe it's just a visual thing - i do have 6 real Leicas after all , and several unmolested Zorki / Fed / Zenits .
In theory , I should perceive the Zorki for what it is - a Russian camera , atractor-tive in it''s own right , and i somehow like that anyway - the connection to Leica is merely my head screwing up !
It's just the crazeee way the mind [ does not ] work !

dee sturbed ?
