Early Orthometar on eBay

The Orthometar on this camera is in the first batch of 100 made for the Contax. The series starts with serial number 1503451, so this lens is the 49th made. Too rich for my blood, but interesting.

The Orthometar is a nice lens, but not uncommon and not nearly that expensive. They are all uncoated and early Zeiss Contax lenses. I'd never dream of paying more than about $500 for one - max.

Agreed that $500 is about right for one of these lenses. This seller is asking way too much, will not get any bids at this price

I paid about $300 for mine in less than pristine condition and then another $195 for an overhaul, so $500 sounds about right if it is in good condition. My understanding is that Zeiss made around 2000 of these, so somewhat rare, but not rare enough for the asking price in this case.
