I put my nokton on Ebay for sale
(probably because im stupid and i thought that it would sell easier than in here)
in a rather low price (600 GBP) and my item was sold in 10 hours by a buyer that has 0 feedback.
I haven't received payment (its been 30-45 minutes, i know i am rushing) but i'm thinking that it is someone that doesn't want me to sell my lens that low.
any help? is this a usual scam? (i call it scam because i pay for listings ) should i report it?
discuss please :/

45 minutes? Give it at least 24 hours, we don't all sit at computers all day

If it's actually worth more, he might just re-sell it at a higher price.
You might be able to cancel the sale:

If you do sell it to him, make sure you use fully insured, registered, signed, verified, etc shipping. There have been stories of people shipping stuff with inadequate verification, and losing their money.

Non-payment after a half an hour? Gosh I didn't know that was grounds for a complaint.
Many ebay bids are auto generated while the buyers are sleeping, eating, or otherwise engaged in some meaningful activity. Patience, patience.

0 sales 0 buys. brand new account.
I can wait a few hours, but i'm worried about his feedback.
how would i lose my money antiquark? ask that he haven't received the lens and get his money back?

Yes, he would complain to paypal that you never shipped it, then they would return his money. I tried looking for the thread where someone explained it in more detail, but couldn't find it.

To be more specific, to receive "seller protection" from paypal, you have to follow several conditions when shipping:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs...orizedPaymentProtectionFAQs-outside#coverage3
In particular:
You must have proof of delivery. Provide a signature confirmation that is viewable online if payment is $250 USD or more.
It's possible to ship in a way that appears to have proof of delivery, but actually doesn't. For example, what if you ask for a signature, but it's not viewable online with your particular shipping company? Then you won't get seller protection, according to Paypal's statement above.
If memory serves, someone here sent a package as "registered" but not signed. The buyer said it never arrived, so the seller lost his money.

You can set rules when placing your ad to block buyers with no feedback. Should you not get paid you can open an "unpaid item" case. I would send an invoice asking for payment to be completed within 3 days or gets relisted.
I agree that 0 feedback people are sketchy, recently had to do an unpaid item case myself same thing. However everyone has to start somewhere so give them time.
You can cancel bids, if in a country you don't ship to, etc, but best to consider all angles first.

Well that's a 'one up' for eBay.
Someone, somewhere, was doing a good job in picking up the scam.
Reassuring to hear a good tale about eBay!
Glad it all worked out well for you.

Notice to anyone selling on E Bay.

Order from Pay Pal a security identity key ( number generator )
( security key ). Order from Pay Pal, the key will work with both E Bay and Pay Pal.
It is a small 1in. device that creates a new 6 digit number every time you press it. You must have that number every time you sign on to E Bay or Pay Pal.
It makes it impossible to hack your account. The device cost $5., it is well worth the price. My account was hacked 3 times in 6 years, the generator stopped that.
E Bay has become a hackers paradise, I have seen a lot more new buyers with 0 entries. I do sell to them because, everybody has to start from the beginning.
E Bay is still the best place to sell very high end and specialized equipment. I feel very confident now, with the security key device. Bill

The day will come when Credit Cards add a device like that to replace the 3-digit printed code on the card. Make it very difficult for some one to use your card after viewing it at a register, or seeing it used online.

I agree, the key security system is so simple and it works great. I would go so far to say it’s full proof. This technology is old, I don’t understand why every on line transaction doesn’t use a security key. One key could be used with every company you do business with on line. There is no way a hacker could find a 6 digit number that changes with each transaction. The strangest thing is Pay Pal doesn’t offer it to everyone with a account, you have to ask for it. Bill

that's the reason why I don't use paypal. This company is a bank without the standard online bank security we have here in Germany.
This is true but, Pay Pal, is the only on line bank that can do world wide money exchanges for small vendors. They also allow a small seller access to credit card payments. I find Pay Pal very safe providing you learn the rules. I cant speech for German banks but I bet they have their share of fraud. Bill

I have recently had an ebay episode sorted out where an international buyer claimed to have not received a valuable lens I sold. To cut a long story short, ebay have just reversed their original decision and given my money back to me as I was able to obtain a delivery confirmation from the postal service showing the buyer's signature and delivery at the correct address. I have had a look at the buyer's feedback and he has bought a lot of Leica M lenses so I thought I should give everyone a heads up as to this person's ebay identity so you can avoid a similar dispute (which took 3 months to sort out) - zichao0523x. I would rather have left negative feedback on ebay than here but as the item was sold more than 90 days ago it is unfortunately not possible.
