Electro 35 GT Qstn

I have found this camera in a local 2nd hand / pawn shop. They are asking about $40 US. Seems to be in good shape, shutter is smooth, film advance is smooth and from what I could tell, the seals are passable(?). But I know nothing about its quality etc and the net gives more history than anything else. Any users who can give me some feedback? - Or should I wait and see if I can pick up a GSN that everybody seems to like. Thanks

I´m shooting most of the time a GS(T)N, and both camera and lens are excellent. The only significant difference is (as G´man said) the ISO limit to 500.

If you interested I have an Electro GS (goes to ISO 1000) that I am thinking about selling now that I got my Bessa R today. I also have the wide-angle lens adapter and finder, a UV filter, and a lens cap and modified (should say butchered) rubber hood. I've ran two rolls of film through it, meters fine, the previous owner (another RFF member) put new light seals on it, and its pretty clean. Let me know if your interested.

EDIT: Didn't realize you are in Canada, that's $15 for me to ship it to you and that's about half the camera's worth.

What does POD stand for? As you can tell, I am new (again) the rangefinders. Last used one late 70's - an Agfa from the late 60's (looking for that one too).

POD = pad of death

I think its detailed on the Yashica Guys website but when that PAD deteriorates the camera dies. It is difficult to replace although many forum members here seem to have done it successfully.

Electros are wonderful cameras-$40 for a full functional one would be a good deal,BUT-

Buy a PX 32 or an adapter which takes PX -28 batteries first,and bring it with you to check out the camera;make sure the yellow and red light glow.

Check the RF-make sure the engraved distance on the lens matches focus on various distances;make sure the split image isnt off-center.

Dont buy an Electro that has been engraved by previous owners;the etching can cause damage.

Check the flash synch-many otherwise godd Electros have bad synchs.

Some Electros only need a wire or two re-soldered;others will need $85 to $100 overhauls to get them working.

See if you can buy a GSN from one of the splendid chaps on this message board.

Unfortunately I don't have the tele. I have the nice case for both lenses and everything. But that's how I received this kit, sans tele, hopefully the next owner can pick up the tele somehow and complete the kit. I also have a battery adapter for it. Looks like kingster going to buy it from me. I already am having some regrets, as this is my first ANTI-GAS sale.
