Not sure if this thread is restricted only to the modern remake Elmar with the 'm' or if it's ok to mention the older one too as I've seen some shots from the earlier one in here too. In case of the latter, would just like to say that I bought a 60's chrome one two weeks ago, stunned with what I have got back from it on Tri X. I won't show here as I don't put pics of my kids online but what an incredible performer, and for the price! Sometimes I honestly think that the silver chrome 2.8 Leica stuff of the 60's might actually the best all around set for me. This lens, the 90mm Elmarit V1 and the Summaron 35 2.8...what a set for B+W fans and quite reasonable (by Leica price standards at least!) Sorry if not strictly on topic.

I own 3 , one chrome, one black. The chrome one was early and just came back from DAG for a small repair, relube, and coding while I was at it. And a 1960 mint elmar. All three are yummy.
I don`t have a current Summicron, but do have a V3 from 1969 and a beautiful mint rigid.
The two new collapsible one are my go to 50. For speed, a current Summilux can be added.
So go for it if you can find a nice one.

Been enjoying the little 50mm Elmar-M quite a bit. I just love the look it delivers on the Monochrom.

Even though it's only been a couple months for me, I think this is quickly becoming my favorite 50mm lens. There's just "something" to it that is very right.

Like it or not..for me...this is a killer lens...its just plain fun to use..and the results..just look right..with no..well...funny stuff..anywhere..
At this point in time..its just the Elmar-M and WATE..thats all I really need..and once in awhile..the 35 or the Noct or Macro 60..
But I could be happy with only the 50 Elmar M forever..as my only lens..its that good..

Elmar-M 50 is definitely one of my all-time favorites.
I've posted this photo elsewhere before, but it's a new scan of a wet print on small RC paper that I made in 2010.
I like it so much it's currently on M5. The forbidden love!
(I've put a cut-down film canister around the barrel to avoid accidental collapsing/collision)

Own 2, chrome and black + mintish original. What does that tell you? Must have 6 or 8 other 50`s including summicrons , current summilux, few Summitars, 3.5 elmar red scale. Fav is theMark 2 elmar.
