Epson 750 vs 700. Difference?

Can anyone tell me why I would want the 750 over the 700? They seem to have the same resolution, scanning capacity, etc. And at the moment the 700 is about 250 bucks cheaper.

As I understand it, the bundled software supplied, and some wet scanning accessories. As I recall, when the V750 was released there was some advice that it had improved lens coatings, but I have since (from discussions in the Flickr V700 group I believe) understood that the V700 has been changed to the same specification. Sorry I cannot provide more authoritative sources than the above...

What is wet scanning? I guess I should google it...

for wet scanning you use special oil (kami fluid) which your transparencies are dunked in. It hides any small scratches/imperfections in them and gives a smoother result. Often used for drum scanning for maximum quality.

Trouble is your tannys come out a mess and have to be cleaned up afterwards.

I think you get the full version of silverfast with the V750.

Epson 4990 = Epson 700 = Epson 750 in real world use, look for a demo-refurb 4990.

I think you get software to make a scanner profile with the 750 whoopie
